All aluminum is not created the same! WHAT! From time to time we have customers ask why there are different prices for the same material. Take aluminum for example; there is a wide range of prices for aluminum. Hint Hint ....You wouldn't want to ride in a plane that was created from recycled aluminum cans would you? Different aluminum products contain different alloys. The aluminum in a plane must be very strong .....
Therefore different alloys added to aluminum provides different qualities. Manganese increases the strength and resistance to corrosion. Silicon improves castability and zinc will increase the hardness of aluminum. Remember recycling is good for all of us!

Yesterday we had a discussion about stainless steel. Isn't that what everybody discusses during lunch? And it all came about because of a customer's question about a material that was brought in. From time to time, we have customers bring in stainless and it is usually people in the restaurant business. However, when the material is tested, it is magnetic. What!? It's been used in a restaurant as a table or counter top. It should be stainless. Well technically it may be stainless but.... and this is the kicker. It is probably a low grade of stainless. It has just enough nickel it so that it doesn't rust but that's just about it. And, did I mention that it is the nickel that gives the stainless it's value. Therefore, if it is a low grade of stainless (it's magnetic), it contains very little nickel and is worth no more than scrap metal
Recycling is something that we all can to make our world a better place for our children and grandchildren. As a locally owned and operated business, Tullis Metals has a personal interest in
our local community. Not only do we offer recycling services, but we also have a retired teacher on staff who is available to speak to classrooms and other organizations about the recycling process. In addition we welcome visits by local classrooms.  Please contact us if we can assist you in any way.
